Another question: Do I have to be a resident of Guam to compete in the show? You can live in mars and still be honored to compete lol....No, you don't need to be a resident on Guam to compete in the nationals.

Finally created the announcement poster for the 2010 Bodybuilding & Fitness Competition which took almost an entire day, of course I had breaks. But I'm glad it's done and out of my way.

Update: I'm really sorry to those of you off-island who wanted to compete but was not qualified for this years 2010 competition. I just got a word from GNPC President MaryAnn Pangelinan. To be a resident means you are living on Guam for 5 consecutive years. So, yes...you do not need to be a resident to compete, but you need to be at least living on Guam to enter the Guam Nationals, hence the title of the event "Guam Nationals." Those residing on Guam may compete, but they are not eligible to represent Guam in international events even if they win their division. This event was never stated that it's international nor that it is an open international event. GNPC is abiding by the Olympic Committee policy resident status.
Thank You We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

This can be a little confusing because we are also affiliated with the Guam National Olympic Commitee.
To compete in the Guam Nationals Bodybuilding & Bodyfitness Championships you only have to reside on Guam it does not matter how long. For example, someone in the US Military and their dependents, stationed on Guam, can compete in the GNPC BB&BF Championships. The GNPC welcomes and encourages members of the military to compete and in fact the military was well represented last year.
However, every 4 years bodybuilding is part of the Pacific Games which is an International Olympic Committee sanctioned event. In order to represent Guam in any sport you must meet the GNOC Residency requirements which states that you must have lived on Guam for 5 consecutive years and filed your taxes here. In this case even though you may have won your division or the overall title at the GNPC BB&BF Championships you can not represent Guam for bodybuilding at the Pacific Games or Asian Games as these events fall under the sanctioning of the IOC.
Joel, MaryAnn will confirm this shortly. I just don't want our local military members thinking they can not compete in the contest in October. Thanks you.

Steve,
Thank you very much for clarifying this on behalf of GNPC. I could not have explained it any better
